2019 DEC 22: Franklin Graham Fires Back At Christianity Today’s ‘Elitist Liberal’ Call For President Trump’s Removal

‘MY FATHER WOULD HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED’

“Christianity Today released an editorial stating that President Trump should be removed from office—and they invoked my father’s name (I suppose to try to bring legitimacy to their statements), so I feel it is important for me to respond.

Yes, my father Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece.

In fact, he would be very disappointed … My father knew Donald Trump, he believed in Donald Trump, and he voted for Donald Trump.

He believed that Donald J. Trump was the man for this hour in history for our nation…”

Editor-In-Chief Mark Galli was posted the editorial just one day after Trump became the third president in United States history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. Galli wrote, “The impeachment of Donald Trump is a significant event in the story of our republic. It requires comment.”

“The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents,” he wrote.

But Galli didn’t stop there. He also called out Trump’s evangelical supporters writing, “Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior. Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behaviour in the cause of political expediency. If we don’t reverse course now, will anyone take anything we say about justice and righteousness with any seriousness for decades to come?”

In a statement posted to his Facebook page early Friday, Graham, the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief organization, wrote his response to the publication which was founded in 1956 by his father, the late Billy Graham. Graham, 67, noted his father would not have agreed with the publication’s stance and would have been very disappointed with it. He also revealed that the late evangelist even voted for the President.

Christianity Today released an editorial stating that President Trump should be removed from office—and they invoked my father’s name (I suppose to try to bring legitimacy to their statements), so I feel it is important for me to respond. Yes, my father Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece. In fact, he would be very disappointed. I have not previously shared who my father voted for in the past election, but because of this article, I feel it is necessary to share it now. My father knew Donald Trump, he believed in Donald Trump, and he voted for Donald Trump. He believed that Donald J. Trump was the man for this hour in history for our nation.

“For Christianity Today to side with the Democrat Party in a totally partisan attack on the President of the United States is unfathomable. Christianity Today failed to acknowledge that not one single Republican voted with the Democrats to impeach the President. I know a number of Republicans in Congress, and many of them are strong Christians. If the President were guilty of what the Democrats claimed, these Republicans would have joined with the Democrats to impeach him. But the Democrats were not even unanimous—two voted against impeachment and one voted present. This impeachment was politically motivated, 100% partisan. Why would Christianity Today choose to take the side of the Democrat left whose only goal is to discredit and smear the name of a sitting president? They want readers to believe the Democrat leadership rather than believe the President of the United States.

“Look at all the President has accomplished in a very short time. The economy of our nation is the strongest it has been in 50 years, ISIS & the caliphate have been defeated, and the President has renegotiated trade deals to benefit all Americans. The list of accomplishments is long, but for me as a Christian, the fact that he is the most pro-life president in modern history is extremely important—and Christianity Today wants us to ignore that, to say it doesn’t count? The President has been a staunch defender of religious freedom at home and around the world—and Christianity Today wants us to ignore that? Also, the President has appointed conservative judges in record number—and Christianity Today wants us to ignore that? Christianity Today feels he should be removed from office because of false accusations that the President emphatically denies.

“Christianity Today said it’s time to call a spade a spade. The spade is this—Christianity Today has been used by the left for their political agenda. It’s obvious that Christianity Today has moved to the left and is representing the elitist liberal wing of evangelicalism.”

In his editorial, Galli not only writes about the alleged charges in which the President stands accused, but he also writes about Trump’s morality.

“The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration,” he wrote. “He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near-perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused”

Graham responded directly to this assertion in his statement.

“Is President Trump guilty of sin? Of course, he is, as were all past presidents and as each one of us are, including myself,” he wrote. Therefore, let’s pray for the President as he continues to lead the affairs of our nation.”

Graham has often defended Trump during his term of office and has called for Christians to pray for the President.

According to The New York Times, CT has about 80,000 print subscribers. It is headquartered in the Chicago suburbs.

The Times also noted that Galli is retiring from the publication after the first of the year. He announced his retirement in October.

Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and Rev. Johnnie Moore, president of the Congress of Christian Leaders, released a statement opposing President Trump’s impeachment after the House voted Wednesday night.

On Wednesday evening Dec. 18, 2019, the United States House of Representatives embarked upon the only exclusively partisan impeachment effort in American history, and millions of Americans recognize that the House leadership is not actually impeaching the president of the United States but the policies and people that he represents.

“The Democrats in the House impeached millions of God-fearing, family-loving and patriotic Americans from the Democrat and Republican parties.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe in one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, including the president of the United States.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe in due process, the rule of law and in the primacy of our free elections in determining our political leadership.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe that it’s precisely the job of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the United States government to intensely obstruct one another in order to check and balance our freewheeling democracy whose brilliance is unparalleled in history.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who are profoundly proud of American power, accountability and generosity.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe that every life is sacred in and out of the womb.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who recognize that this nation is a nation of immigrants, support comprehensive immigration reform and demand that those who enter, do so legally.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe that our religious freedoms were inserted into the first clause of the first sentence of our First Amendment for a reason.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who recognize that socialism has been one of history’s most anti-freedom and most anti-Christian ideologies.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe that we have the God-given right to raise our children according to our own beliefs without government interference.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who repudiate every vestige of hatred, bigotry, discrimination and racism yet celebrate ideological intersectionality present in the tapestry of America’s myriad ethnic and religious communities.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe in faith and science and oppose theocracy while cherishing freedom of conscience and belief.

“They impeached millions of Americans – Democrat and Republican – who believe that Uncle Sam is just an uncle but he will never be our Father.

“On Dec. 18, 2019 the Democrats in Congress chose political expediency over our election integrity, and we shall see in 2020 whether or not the party increasingly led by Rep. Adam Schiff and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be rewarded or rejected by millions of Americans, Democrat and Republican.

“God bless our country as we endure this political drama on the eve of the most sacred occasion of our envied democracy, the year of the Presidential election.

“Our relentless prayers especially rest with the president of the United States and upon all of those who led us into this utterly partisan disregard of the most powerful tool our Founders gave us to undo a presidential election – which is exactly what this is an attempt to do.”

Rev. Samuel Rodriguez told The Times the editorial came as a surprise.

Christianity Today is very apolitical,” Mr. Rodriguez said. “We don’t do politics, we don’t even bring up politics in a board meeting.”

“I don’t think it should affect anything,” he noted.

Johnnie Moore, the current Commissioner for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom also responded to the CT’s editorial in a series of tweets.

Franklin Graham Responds to Presbyterian Church’s Apostasy

Profile: Franklin Graham (03)

The Apostate Presbyterian church USA:

It wasn’t really surprising when the Presbyterian church USA moved to fully embrace same-sex marriage by changing the wording of its constitution earlier this week. But the fallout could be wider than first believed.

Reuters reported how the move threatens to “further splinter one of the largest U.S. mainline Protestant denominations. Religion News Service seems to believe mainline Protestants are solidifying gay marriage support. And just weeks ago, controversial former pastor Rob Bell flat out told Oprah Winfrey that the church is “moments away from embracing” gay marriage.

You can hear the gay rights drum beat, and it’s getting louder. Thankfully, Franklin Graham is beating a different drum.

“The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) approved redefining marriage in the church constitution Tuesday to include a ‘commitment between two people,’ becoming the largest Protestant group to formally recognize gay marriage and allow same-sex weddings in congregations,” Graham wrote on his Facebook page.

“In His Word, the Bible, God has already defined marriage, as well as sin, and we should obey that rather than looking for ways to redefine it according to the desires of our culture. Marriage is defined as between a man and a woman—end of discussion. Anything else is a sin against God, and He will judge all sin one day.”

‘The Storm Is Coming’: Famed Preacher Reveals the One Thing Obama Is Doing That He Believes Will Lead to Christian Persecution in America

Profile: Franklin Graham (03)

Famed evangelist Franklin Graham issued a warning about the coming “storm of Islam” during a recent appearance on the Christian Broadcast Network’s “700 Club,” claiming that President Barack Obama is “very sympathetic to Islam” and that his policies will lead to the persecution of Christians in the United States.

“We’re going to see persecution, I believe, in this country, because our president is very sympathetic to Islam and the reason I say that … is because his father was a Muslim, gave him a Muslim name, Barack Hussein Obama,” said Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham. “His mother married another Muslim man, they moved to Indonesia, he went to Indonesian schools.”

He continued, “So, growing up his frame of reference and his influence as a young man was Islam. It wasn’t Christianity, [it was] Islam.”

Graham charged that U.S. foreign policy is being influenced by Muslim groups and that the White House has invited these organizations in — a development that he said began during the Bush administration in the years following the September 11 attacks.

Our foreign policy has a lot of influence now from Muslims,” he said. “We see the prime minister of Israel being snubbed by the president and by the White House and by the Democrats and it’s because of the influence of Islam. They hate Israel and they hate Christians, and so the storm is coming, I believe.”

Graham warned that “radical Islamists” are “advising various levels of government” and that the situation will get worse.

“Nobody is saying anything about this and we as Christians are going to lose,” he said.

Franklin Graham: There Are Storms Coming

Times have changed. And no politician or political party can save us.

oklahoma-state-evangelism-2015That’s what Franklin Graham told an Oklahoma City crowd Monday night at the Oklahoma State Evangelism Conference.

Talking about the forces of secular humanism that have taken root in the United States, Franklin Graham called on Christ followers to take an active interest in politics—from local school board races to Washington.

“Now I’m not talking about Baptists or Republicans and the Tea Party,” he said. “I have no confidence that any of these politicians or any party is going to turn this country around. The only hope for this country is for men and women of God to stand up and take a stand.”

“Well, you say, ‘Now Franklin, your father wouldn’t get onto these subjects,'” Franklin Graham said, addressing the need to stand up to secularism.

“Wait a second. My father, when he was going to school, they had a Bible in school,” he continued. “When he was going to school, they had the Ten Commandments on the wall. When he was going to school, you could pray in school, and the teachers would lead in those prayers.

Our country has changed. And we’ve got to take a stand.

Talking about growing up in the ’50s and ’60s under the Red Threat, Franklin Graham recalled that communism was seen as the ultimate enemy of freedom.

“When the Berlin Wall came down, everybody said we won,” he said. “And secularism came. And secularism and communism are the same thing. They’re godless. They’re anti Christ.”

The message was strong and challenging. But a thread of hope ran through it, from start to finish.

There is only one who can save,” Franklin Graham said. “Only one. Jesus Christ.”

Pulling from Matthew 8:1-34, where Jesus calmed the storm that had his disciples fearing for their lives, Franklin reminded the crowd that we aren’t very different from the people who were with Jesus 2,000 years ago.

There are storms that are coming,he said. And we find ourselves in these storms, and many times we as a church, we run and we run to the wrong place.

“You see, Jesus is in the boat. All we have to do is call Him, call on His name.”

Sometimes that will mean facing ridicule from a secular world, Franklin Graham continued. But the people of God have to stay strong.

“The secularists and the humanists, you mention the name of Christ, they jump all over you,” he said. “I get jumped on all the time. I don’t care. I really don’t.

“I gave my life to Christ. He died for me; He shed his blood for me. I’m not going to back up, and I’m not going to run.”
