5 Ways Tony Campolo and Others Miss the Bible Mark With New Views on Gay Christians

No Gay Marriage Button

Tony Campolo (Facebook)

by Shane Idleman
Tony Campolo recently said this about gay-marriage, “(L)ike so many other Christians, I was deeply uncertain about what was right.” But the Bible is crystal clear on sexual sin, including homosexuality. Unfortunately, those who are sounding the alarm are often categorized as irrational, judgmental, bigoted and intolerant. But how can we warn if we won’t confront, correct if we won’t challenge and and contend if we won’t question? We must speak the truth in love.

Opinions change, but truth does not.

My hope is that readers will read the entire article before drawing conclusions. I have nothing but compassion for those trapped in sexual sin. Those who strongly believe in the Bible and God’s will regarding sexual behavior also strongly believe in unconditional love and forgiveness. To say that authentic Christians hate or fear those trapped in the homosexual lifestyle demonstrates a gross misunderstanding of the Christian faith. To “confront in love” simply comes from a desire to honor God and to truly love and care for others. The ability to relate to people on their level, show genuine concern, and love them regardless of their lifestyle is the mark of true Christianity.

It’s no surprise that the church, and our nation, desperately need to hear “the voice of one crying in the wilderness” to awaken, convict and restore. It was not so long ago that we were concerned about “the fall of America.” America cannot fall because she has already fallen. We are now picking up the pieces of a broken nation reflected in our laws, our personal lives, our families and our children. America’s moral heartbeat has ceased because we cut off the source of life.

We need resuscitation, renewal and revival of the truth.

When people, groups, denominations or movements depart from absolute truth and thus quench and grieve the Spirit of God, they become mechanical in their approach to Christianity and lose the ability to guide.

The Word of God is not in their hearts “like a burning fire” (Jer. 20:9), but relative, powerless and debatable. This is what we see today.

Consider the following in light of Tony Campolo’s recent comments supporting gay-marriage:

1. The “moral” laws in the Old Testament such as killing, stealing, lying, adultery, sexual immorality and so on are all valid today.

Jesus referred often to the Old Testament, and said that He didn’t come to abolish it, but to fulfill it. Although many of the ceremonial and dietary laws of the Old Testament do not necessarily apply today, the moral laws do. They are as significant today as they have been throughout history. For example, Leviticus 20:13 states, “If a man lies with another man as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.” To suggest that this verse is invalid today is to advocate the dangerous practice of redefining or deleting what God has said. Not to mention other stories in the Old Testament that highlight the dangers of homosexuality and all sexual sin.

The consequences of wrong actions may have changed, but the moral implications remain the same. For instance, even though we no longer stone to death those who commit adultery, this does not mean that adultery is acceptable or any less dangerous. Adultery is wrong even though there aren’t legal consequences. The laws of a nation should reflect God’s Word, but they are never above it!

2. Jesus condemned “all” sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and woman.

He said, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man.” (Matt. 15:19-20). Jesus was implying that all sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman is harmful and immoral. The word “fornication” in the Greek is porneia; where the word “pornography” comes from. We cannot say, “But I was born this way.” I was born to lie, cheat, lust and deceive, but this doesn’t make it right. It makes me sinful and in need of a Savior.

3. An argument cannot be based solely on silence.

To suggest that Jesus approved of homosexuality simply because He did not use the term “homosexual,” is to imply that He approved of necrophilia, pedophilia, incest and bestiality. But of course, we know better.

4. Other passages in the New Testament are clear on this issue as well. Romans 1:18-32 and 1 Corinthians 6:1-20 are good places to start.

In short, mankind did not see fit to acknowledge God, and they suppressed the truth; therefore, God gave them over to a depraved mind—to do those things which are not proper. Homosexual behavior, and sexual sin in general, is comparable with dishonoring the body and turning from God. John Piper said, “The sexual disordering of the human race is a judgment of God for exchanging Him for the creature.”

5. Jesus said that since the beginning of creation, God created them male and female in order that they would be joined together and become one flesh.

He adds, “What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:9). Marriage between a man and a woman is God’s plan since creation. No matter how many laws are passed in favor of gay marriage, it will not change God’s mind. Man often rebels against God; this is nothing new.

Jesus would often speak out against sin, but His love and mercy also reached out to those who regretted and hated their condition. Forgiveness is a mark of genuine faith. We should have compassion for those who struggle with same-sex attraction because we all struggle with sin, but at the same time, we should not condone or excuse this type of sin any more than we condone or excuse any other sin.

I’m convinced that the majority of the churches in America are seeking to please the masses rather than convict. Judgment is never mentioned; repentance is rarely sought; and sin is often excused. We want to build a church rather than break a heart; be politically correct rather than biblically correct; coddle and comfort rather than stir and convict. This leaves people confused and deceived because we teach and live a form of Christianity void of repentance … void of truth.

As a final word of encouragement, if you’re hopeless, depressed and confused, look to the One who created you.

He has the answers. No matter what you have done, you have the ability to turn to Christ and start anew. It’s all about who you know: “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Rom. 10:9). “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. Look, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17).

Letter Argument Ideas

Rights of the Children

Same-Sex Marriage dismisses any possible impact on children where the State deliberately intervenes and forces children to be raised either without their mother or father.
There are different and complementary attributes that a mother and father bring when parenting children.

The United Nation on Rights of the Child states in article 9 “Children should not be separated from their parents unless it is for their own good. For example, if a parent is mistreating or neglecting a child. Children whose parents have separated have the right to stay in contact with both parents, unless this might harm the child.”

The convention also states that “Children also have the right to know their parents and, as far as possible, to be cared for by them.”

Tradition of Marriage always being between a man and woman

Marriage has always been the relationship between a man and a woman. Even in ancient Greece or Rome where homosexuality existed the term marriage was reserved for relationships between a man and a woman.

Marriage is unique as it recognises the important of marriage between a man and woman that provides opportunities for the raising of children.

Religious Freedom

Many people have argued that any bill to change the definition of marriage would include clauses to give religious exemptions. Jurisdictions such as the United States of America and Canada have shown that even with these clauses in place businesses, schools etc are forced to teach that same-sex marriage is the same as heterosexual marriage and that fines can apply for conscientious objections.

Do not Change Legislation for only a few

This debate is not about the right for homosexuals to have relationships with one another. It is about changing the definition of marriage to cater for only a small percentage of the population. We should not change something as significant as marriage for just a few.

No to a conscience vote for the coalition (this is the most important point when writing to coalition members – not relevant to Labor)

The Liberal Party has always held a position to support the family unit. Something as significant as the institution of marriage is something that a political party should have a position on and in the case of the Liberal Party, continue to support the traditional family unit.

I will be looking at how things progress in the future and hope that you support traditional marriage both individually, and that there is no conscience vote. If a motion comes to the party room, it is very important that you vote against the conscience vote! This is the way to uphold the party policy on marriage. This was the policy that the coalition took to the last election and it must be maintained.

Further Notes:

  • Lots of emails are good and phone calls are good. Please go ahead with them.  Hand written letters are the most powerful.  Please write several hand written letters and encourage friends to write as well.
  • A good idea is to invite a group of friends over and have everyone write three short letters each, thus multiplying your efforts.
  • It is critical that coalition MPs on the above list receive as many hand written letters as possible in the second week of June (8 to 12). These letters must urge them to oppose a conscience vote.
  • If you are a member of the relevant party it is a good idea to mention this on your letters.
  • If your local member is not on the above lists, it is a good idea to write to them as well.

Future Action:

This is but the start of action on this front. An organisaton is being created ensure that the definition of marriage remains as it is. In order to be up to date please register your interest at christian.ellis@live.com.au. With questions contact Christian Ellis on 0416 012 503.

Than you for being involved on such an important issue!

6 Interesting Facts About Hillary Clinton’s Christian Faith

(PHOTO: REUTERS/MIKE SEGAR/FILES) Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks during a news conference at the United Nations in New York in this March 10, 2015, file photo. Hillary Clinton announced her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 on Sunday, April 12, 2015.

Hillary Clinton wants to be president of the United States, but what actually guides her?

The only currently declared candidate for the Democratic ticket was raised in the Methodist tradition and continues to practice that faith today. Here are six interesting facts about Clinton’s faith as it relates to her candidacy and personal life.

1) Clinton was raised in the First United Methodist Church in Park Ridge, Illinois, and wrote in her book It Takes a Village and Other Lessons Children Teach Us that “religion figures in my earliest memories of my family. Our spiritual life as a family was spirited and constant. We talked with God, walked with God, ate, studied and argued with God. Each night, we knelt by our beds to pray before we went to sleep.”

After winning the presidential election in 1996, the Clintons attended Washington’s Foundry United Methodist Church, and Hillary participated in a bipartisan prayer group for women.

2) Social justice is a major part of Clinton’s religious practice.

“We need a new politics of meaning,” she said at a Texas convention in 1993. “We have to summon up what we believe is morally and ethically and spiritually correct and do the best we can with God’s guidance.”

“The Church was a critical part of my growing up, and in preparing for this event, I almost couldn’t even list all the ways it influenced me, and helped me develop as a person, not only on my own faith journey, but with a sense of obligations to others,” she said at the 1996 United Methodist Convention.

3) Clinton wants to change the perception that the Democratic Party is hostile to religion.

“[It] has been viewed as a part that didn’t understand the values and way of life of so many Americans,” she said in 2008 at the CNN Compassion Forum. “It’s important that we make clear that we believe people are people of faith because it is part of their whole being. It is what gives them meaning in life.”

4) She believes the religious views of others must change to support legal abortion.

“Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper,” Clinton said on April 23 at the Women in the World Summit. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs, and structural biases have to be changed.”

5) Clinton referred to religion both when she opposed and supported same-sex marriage.

“Marriage has historic, religious, and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman,” she said in 1996, according to God and Hillary Clinton by Paul Kengor.

“One of my big problems right now is that too many people believe they have a direct line to the divine and they never want to change their mind about anything,” Clinton told NPR’s Terry Gross during an interview in 2014 in which she said she now supports gay marriage. “We are living at a time when this extraordinary change is occurring and I’m proud of our country. I think that we have all evolved, and it’s been one of the fastest, most sweeping transformations that I’m aware of.”

6) Clinton once attended prayer meetings with Republican Senators Sam Brownback and Rick Santorum.

While a U.S. senator, Clinton attended a bipartisan prayer meeting, which included some of the Senate’s most conservative Republicans, like Sam Brownback, Kan., and Rick Santorum, Penn.

At one of those meetings, Brownback stopped short of telling his testimony to ask Clinton’s forgiveness for the sins of feeling hatred toward her and saying derogatory things about her, according to The Atlantic.

“I came here today prepared to share about this experience in my life that has caused great suffering, the result of which has deepened my faith. But I’m overcome now with only one thought,” Brownback said upon seeing Clinton in the meeting.

After asking for her forgiveness, Clinton said she appreciated the apology and forgave him.

Ever since then, Clinton found it easier to work with both sides of the political divide, and even co-sponsored a bill with Brownback. She has worked with conservatives and liberals alike, showing that she is able to use her faith in the political realm to foster good for her causes and agenda.

Leading Evangelical Organization Calls on Christian Zionists to Repent for Supporting Israel

The Lausanne Movement

One of the world’s leading Christian Evangelical organizations is targeting Christian support for the State of Israel in what it calls a sinful practice, Israel Hayom first reported.

February 1, 2015 | By Lea Speyer

The Lausanne Movement has decried Christian Zionism in the past and its newest anti-Israel campaign is not new.

“For over 60 years, many Evangelicals have clung to a very narrow theological narrative that weds Christian theology with a political ideology known as Zionism,” wrote Steve Haas, vice presidents of World Vision US, in the latest issue of Lausanne Global Analysis.

Haas compared Christian Zionists to Spanish inquisitors, Crusaders, supporters of apartheid South Africa, and other historical atrocities.

As a whole, the Lausanne movement has developed a negative obsession with Israel over the last several years. Senior leaders within Lausanne espouse the idea what Israel, the Jewish state, is the chief persecutor of Christians and other peoples in the Middle East.

One such example is the “Cape Town Commitment,” published by Lausanne in a gathering in South African in 2010. The document calls on Christians to repent for their direct role in “Palestinian suffering” by supporting Israel.

The movement equated “Palestinian suffering” at the hands of Israel with the suffering of the Jews during the Holocaust.

Lausanne repeatedly makes little mention of Christian suffering under radical Islamists, while Israel and international Zionists are slammed for what the movement believes is a tyrannical rule in the Middle East.

Lausanne is not the only Christian organization that preaches against Israel. Recently, the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) voted on a measure that called for removing the word “Israel” from its prayers.

While the resolution was ultimately rejected, the sentiment behind the removal of any mention of “Israel” was not missed. An active supporter of the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign (BDS), PCUSA has passed several anti-Israel measures and encourages its followers to stem all support to the State of Israel.

Pastor and Employee Engage in Vicious Gunfight at Florida Church With 16 Children on the Premises

Jerusalem: Living Water Fellowship Church feature

A Florida pastor resorted to shooting an employee from his church after the worker first opened fire on him.

Benjamin Parangan Jr

Benjamin Parangan Jr

The gunfight ensued around 8 a.m. Tuesday at Living Water Fellowship Church in Osceola County and included an exchange of gunfire between maintenance worker Benjamin Parangan Jr., 47, and pastor Terry Howell.

Parangan reportedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the pastor who returned fire with his own gun. Howell wasn’t injured during the melee, but Parangan was hit and taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center where he’s in stable condition.

Around 16 children were attending daycare on the premises when the shooting happened and none of them were injured.

Several church employees were also present to witness the shooting.

“There is a child care facility on the property of the church. It was not affected in any way by the isolated incident,” said Twis Lizauain of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of Living Water Fellowship Church spoke to the local WFTV Channel 9 news outlet about the incident.

“To hear it happened here in our neighborhood, and not only my neighborhood, but my church, it’s shocking,” said member Robert Quintana.

The scuffle was reportedly over a meeting where Parangan would be relieved from his maintenance position at the church, according to WTVY.com.

Deputies are investigating the shooting as a case of self-defense and authorities also confirmed that charges are pending against Parangan. Both men had concealed-weapon permits, according to the sheriff’s office.

Howell also issued a statement discussing the incident which was released by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday.

“We are in full support of the ongoing Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the traumatic incident that occurred at our church this morning. We will continue to cooperate with the investigators in every way that we can,” said Howell.

“Until the investigation is complete, we will not be making any public statements. Thank you for understanding. The members of our church will continue to pray for all those involved in this morning’s incident. We would ask all who read this release to do the same.”

Detectives were reportedly seen serving a search warrant at the home of Parangan Tuesday night. There’s no confirmation of anything being found in the house at this time. However, he has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to kill and will be booked into Osceola County jail after he’s released from the hospital.

Christmas: The Lord Jesus Christ: Saviour of the World

Jack van Impe feature

The Holy Bible gives God’s Son manifold titles.

However, the one that means so much to all of us as poor, helpless sinners is “Saviour“- which immediately instills hope within one’s heart concerning salvation.

The very name Jesus means “salvation.
Matthew 1:21 states, Thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Multitudes today are trusting in man-made rituals to get them inside God’s heaven. Yet, there isn’t a ceremonial rite in all of Christendom’s churches that can save a man. Jesus Christ alone is the only way to eternal life.

Christ’s saving power

In that tremendous portion of Scripture often described as the “Magnificat,1)The Magnificat {Latin for: [My soul] magnifies} wikipedia” Mary, the mother of Jesus, cried out, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour (Luke 1:46,47). In Luke 2, the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, saying, Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:10,11).

Also in Luke 2, Simeon had been waiting for the consolation or hope of Israel. He jubilantly exclaimed, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation (Luke 2:29,30). He was looking upon the Christ child as he spoke those words.

Again in John 4, a wicked woman-who had five husbands and who was living under common law with number six-turned to Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Then she excitedly ran back to the city and told the people about her newfound joy in this Saviour who had blotted out her sordid past. The men of that city listened to the Lord’s discourses for two days and exuberantly stated, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world (John 4:42).

In Acts 5:33, Peter and some of the apostles were threatened with punishment, even unto death (verse 33). However, the great Apostle Peter so loved Jesus. He believed so strongly in the fact that Jesus was the only way of salvation and eternal life that he was willing to die in order that the message might be proclaimed. I can almost hear this impulsive preacher saying, We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour (Acts 5:29-31).

Acts 13:23 calls Him a Saviour, Jesus. Ephesians 5:23 says, Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Compare this verse with 1 Corinthians 12:13, For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body. The body of Christ, into which one is implanted at the time of regeneration, is the Church, and Ephesians 5:23 states that Christ is the Saviour of this body. Baptism, reformation, confirmation, works, creeds, and human efforts cannot place one into the true Church because only the Lord Jesus Christ is the Saviour of this body. Amen!

The Apostle Paul stated that one of the reasons he was willing to endure suffering, torture, and even death was because of his trust in the Saviour. Death could only mean that the One who saved him would welcome him home to heaven. Hear him in 1 Timothy 4:10. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

In 2 Timothy 1:9-10, Paul went on to say that it was not a system of self-attainment through works that would place him eternally in the glory land, but rather a precious Saviour whose name was Jesus Christ. Listen to the simplicity of these instructive verses. [God] hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel [or through the good news].

Again, He hath abolished death. What wonderful words! And [He] hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Immortality speaks of eternal life-and it comes through the gospel or the “good news.

Do you get the impact?

Eternal life is through the gospel and gospel meansgood news.

This good news is explained in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 where we find that Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Put it all together and it simply says that everlasting life does not come through one’s denominational record or good works. It comes as a result of one’s acceptance of the Saviour’s death by the shedding of blood and of His resurrection.

Titus 2:13 speaks of Christ’s return by stating, Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Notice that it is not Buddha, Mohammed, or Zoroaster who is the Saviour, but only the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no other Saviour-Jesus is the only way. 2 Peter 1:1 again calls Him our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Christ’s earthly ministry

Saviour” is not some honorary title which was bestowed upon the Lord Jesus Christ in recognition of His wonderful teachings. Rather, it depicts His ministry upon earth and speaks of His saving power.

Presently, we are living in a time of rebellion. Corrupted mankind is trying to destroy all of our foundational structures. This trend can also be witnessed in the religious world as apostate, liberal clergymen mock the doctrines of the virgin birth, the deity of Christ, His blood atonement upon the cross, and His bodily resurrection. Many laugh at the statement “Jesus Saves” as if the word “saves” were an invention of some simpleton.

Our God predicted this would happen, and it is one of the signs of the end. Second Peter 2:1,2: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be [one of the signs] false teachers among you, who privity shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

There are two things one can do for these poor misguided souls:

(1) pray for them, and

(2) thank God for their presence because it means that Jesus Christ is coming soon to call Christians home.

Let them laugh. The term saved was placed in the Bible scores of times by a holy God. One had better investigate and accept this truth if he is interested in eternal life.

I could quote numerous verses proving that salvation is of God and that God put this word in the Bible.

However, let’s limit our discussion to those which speak exclusively about Christ being the way of salvation:

Thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost (Matthew 18:11).

God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him [Jesus] might be saved (John 3:17).

Jesus said,

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved (John 10:9).

I came not to judge the world, but to save the world (John 12:47).

Paul said,

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31).

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ 2){not rites, ceremonies, rituals, the Sermon on the Mount, the Golden Rule, or the Ten Commandments, but the gospel or the good news of Christ}:for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Romans 1:16).

We shall be saved from wrath through him (Romans 5:9).

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).

In 1 Corinthians 15:1,2 we find this statement, Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel [the good news] which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4: Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and…he was buried, and…he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. This alone is the message of the gospel, the good news, the only way of salvation. Christ died, shed His blood, and rose again.

Christ’s redeeming blood

Christ’s power to save all the world was wrought through His precious blood shed on Calvary.

Leviticus 17:11: It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Acts 20:28: The church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 1 Peter 1:18-19: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. Revelation 1:5: Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Yes, without [the] shedding of blood [there] is no remission [of sins] (Hebrews 9:22).

It is not enough simply to state that Christ died-as so many intellectuals do today in order to do away with the sacrifice of His blood.

A bloodless death on the cross would not have saved anyone.

Let me repeat that. Had Christ died of a heart attack or of suffocation upon the cross, mankind would have been lost forever, for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Because of this fact, Christ came to earth to take upon himself a body with blood so that He might shed that blood for our sins (see Hebrews 10:5). When one receives this sacrifice of the shed blood of Jesus Christ, he is saved immediately.

Christ’s redemptive purpose

If the Lord Jesus Christ is the Saviour and has saving power, we may conclude that He came to earth because sinners need saving. This is exactly what Paul said. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (Timothy 1:15). Not only does this statement include everyone we know, but ourselves as well. Christ would have all men to be saved, including you and me (see 1 Timothy 2:4). [Christ] gave himself a ransom for all (1 Timothy 2:6).

The only reason some people will never get saved is that they do not realize that they are lost.

They think they were born into sainthood just like the Pharisee in the temple. He said, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are (Luke 18:11). However, Jesus said in Matthew 5:20, Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Why? The Pharisees were so caught up in the admiration of their own goodness that they were convinced they needed nothing from God-nothing at all!

Yet, God says in Isaiah 64:6, We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.

Galatians 3:22: The scripture hath concluded all under sin.

Thus, God not only wants to save mankind from the misery of sin in this life, but also from the eternal penalty into which sin will drag those who reject Christ. He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth [eternity] on him (John 3:36).

Why? Because he won’t receive the Son.

Oh, my friend, if you are lost, the Saviour longs to save you.

You need saving because all are sinners and only through His blood can you be washed white. You may be whitewashed because you’ve had all the rituals of the Church performed upon you, but you really need to be washed white to inherit eternal life! Why not call on Him right now, saying, “Lord Jesus, come into my heart.”
