President Donald J. Trump attended the White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony, and he took special care to remind the nation that the birth of Jesus Christ is the reason for the Christmas season.
The lighting ceremony took place on November 30th and is being rebroadcast on the Hallmark Channel this week.
In a stunning break of tradition after 8 years of Obama, Trump spoke proudly and without hesitation about the Christmas story miracle. Trump opined,
“Whatever our beliefs, we know that the birth of Jesus Christ and the story of his life forever changed the course of human history.”
Trump repeatedly mentioned Jesus’s name and explained to the country the truth: We’re here to celebrate Jesus Christ and his birth. “Each and every year at Christmas time we recognize that the real spirit of Christmas is not what we have, it’s about who we are – each one of us is a child of God. That is the true source of joy this time of the year. That is what makes every Christmas ‘merry,’”
Trump repeatedly wished people Merry Christmas on the campaign trail and called for “Merry Christmas” to become the norm instead of the secular saying “Happy Holidays.”
After Obama and the secular left ran God and faith out of the public square, Trump is reaffirming America’s founding and the Christian values we share.

The official video from the White House has been viewed more than 7 million times. That’s because Americans love seeing a leader who recognizes faith and God are at the center of our country’s greatness. Simply acknowledging what Christmas is all about is a good start to having Jesus be part of our nation.
